Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church is ever committed in pursuing its mission to “Glorify God and Make Him Known.” Many of you know that we are experiencing God’s blessing as we reach out to our local community with the good news of the Gospel. People from North Myrtle Beach and surrounding communities are coming to Sunday worship at ODPC in ever greater numbers, as we praise and glorify Him through music, to pray, and to hear God’s word.
Our Traditional and Contemporary services are both growing, with the Contemporary service growing faster to where it has completely filled our facility to capacity, even with the recent refurbishment of Woodrum Hall. The need to add a 3rd worship service on Sunday remains an essential element as we strive to continue our mission of reaching out our local community with the Gospel. This web page provides information and background documents that Session wants to share with you about this exciting time in the history of Ocean Drive Presbyterian.
For 2 years a Strategic Planning Task Force has been researching and considering the church’s options for the future. The Task Force made a report and recommendations to Session on June 19, 2018, and Session unanimously gave a preliminary approval to pursue the Task Force recommendations with the intent of starting a 3rd service.
After a period of prayer and discussion within our membership, Session accepted an additional recommendation of the Task Force on July 17 to withdraw it’s prior acceptance that would have moved the 11:00am service to 8:30am and along with other changes to the schedule of Sunday services and the related implementation timetable. Session also accepted the recommendation that the Task Force continue its work such that a 3rd service can be accommodated in a timely manner to facilitate the church’s ongoing pursuit of its mission.
As we move forward, Session believes it is important to share information with the congregation about the ongoing mission and vision of the church, and to engage in dialog before taking final action.
