Ocean Drive Presbyterian is ever committed in pursuing its mission to “Glorify God and Make Him Known.” Many of you know that we are experiencing God’s blessing as we reach out to our local community with the good news of the Gospel. People from North Myrtle Beach and surrounding communities are coming to Sunday worship at ODPC in greater and greater numbers, as we praise and glorify Him through music, to pray, and to hear God’s word. Our Traditional and Contemporary services are both growing, with the Contemporary service growing faster to where it has completely filled our facility to capacity.
Even with the recent refurbishment of Woodrum Hall, the need to add a 3rd worship service on Sunday has become essential to continue our mission of reaching out our local community.
This web page provides information about the plans to start a 3rd service in the Fall of 2018, and includes information and background documents that Session wants to share with you about this exciting time in the history of Ocean Drive Presbyterian.
For 2 years a Strategic Planning Task Force has been researching and considering the church’s options for the future The Task Force made a report and recommendations to Session on June 19, 2018. In response, Session unanimously gave a preliminary approval to pursue the Task Force recommendations with the intent of starting a 3rd service in the Fall of this year and a revised overall Sunday worship schedule of:
- 8:30-9:30 Traditional Worship Service
- 10:00 – 11:00 Contemporary Worship Service
- 11:30 – 12:30 Contemporary Worship Service
As we move forward, Session believes it is important to share information with the congregation about the ongoing mission and vision of the church, and to engage in dialog before taking final action.
Two “Informational Meetings” that were open to all, were held for members to meet with Session and the Task Force to learn about the church’s growth, our options to continue with the mission of reaching our local community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to ask questions and to dialog with the Church leadership. Session will meet on July 17 to consider how to best move forward.
