MISSION: With God as our guide we create items that are useful and comforting to people locally and worldwide.
What would you do with a large donation of fabrics and notions? The answer: Create a Stitching Ministry!
Items made by Ocean Drive’s Stitching Ministry have been distributed locally through Mercy Hospice, Grand Strand Hospital and Bethany Christian Services. Our own mission trips to Haiti have distributed hundreds of items as well. When missionaries from Costa Rica were visiting about 200 items were given to them. Also, we have sent items to Ethiopia through a military contact. We are always open to new ideas and will continue to grow our ministry’s distribution as God opens new opportunities for us.
What does The Stitching Ministry make? ODPC’s congregation is blessed with Prayer Squares and Prayer Quilts made by the Stitching Ministry. You can see a sample of our work in the Prayer Room. Dolls, quilts, baby blankets, skirts, and tote bags are always in the making. Recently we added eye glass cases, medicine bags and soap bags by request.
You can help! Experience is not required. A variety of things you can do to help. Pressing fabric, cutting out dolls, skirts, bags and quilt squares may be your thing. Serging the raw edges and sewing straight seams is quick and easy. We have 2 sewing machines, 2 sergers and all the supplies. Come join us for a time of fellowship and fun as we serve our Lord. We meet every Tuesday morning from 10am to Noon in Room 224.
